Tried Tested and Being Approved
A Rough and Tough Journey Home
Voluminous readings have indicated to me that I have no new information to add
to the collective corpus of academic literature. I’d like to contribute the story of my life’s
journey that is at times stranger than fiction.
I was born with an acute visual impairment and developed a severe neurological
deficiency when I was twelve-years-old. With God’s providential mercy, I’ve been able
to overcome and thrive despite these deficiencies. I’d like to tell the story of how I’ve:
- Listened to more than 100,000 books
- Become proficient in playing the violin and a prodigious poetry recitalist
- Won chess tournaments as well as taught and train chess champions
- Earned a Master’s degree and 2 post-graduate certificates
- Worked in Washington DC and in the administration of the City of Toledo
- Bought a dilapidated house for a dollar and renovated it
- Hosted a radio show and wrote for a newspaper
- Ran for public office
- Spent six months in jail
- Become a vehement apologist for the Catholic faith
- Become a political utilitarian activist
- Built a flourishing dog boarding and training business
In Part 1 I give the reader an explanation of how I mechanically and
psychologically deal with my physical difficulties. The biographical content of my life
experience is covered in Part 2. Part 3 concerns my quest and conclusions in
answering the major questions as to life’s meaning. Finally, Part 4 deals with my
transition from the Protestant theological world view into devout Catholicism. I wrote an
addendum at the end to tie together overarching themes throughout the entire
manuscript.
My intention is to share with the reader hope on several levels. First, hope in the
midst of physical or mental challenges; second, hope amid the trials and tribulations
encountered in life; and third, hope that is found in the ultimate meaning of life. Lastly, I
pray that you might find unitive hope in the Catholic Church as I have found.
